Ethics Probe Sought of Ex-DOJ Lawyer Over Trump Election Claims

Senate Judiciary Committee Chair Dick Durbin (D-Ill.) asked the District of Columbia’s disciplinary counsel to launch an ethics investigation into a former Justice Department lawyer’s alleged role in the Trump-inspired bid to undermine the 2020 election result.

Jeffrey Clark’s “misconduct does more than speak to his fitness as a lawyer; his activities, which were part of a broader course of conduct by President Trump and his allies to overturn the elections, have had severe ramifications for the rule of law,” Durbin said in a letter on Thursday to the Office of Disciplinary Counsel.
