Ericsson and Lenovo Trade Blows in 5G Patent License Battle

Lenovo Inc. urged the Federal Circuit to stop Ericsson from enforcing smart phone sales bans in Brazil and Colombia as part of a global battle over what it must pay for 5G network patents owned by the Swedish telecom and used in Lenovo’s products.

The companies traded blows during oral argument Wednesday in an appeal from the US District Court for the Eastern District of North Carolina, which rejected Lenovo’s request for an order blocking the South American courts’ injunctions.
