EPA Research Group Lacks Scientific Oversight, Watchdog Says (1)

The EPA’s research and development wing must be more diligent about catching scientific misconduct among its staffers, the agency’s internal watchdog said in a report.

The findings, released Thursday, come as Environmental Protection Agency chief Lee Zeldin is mulling closing down much of the Office of Research and Development (ORD) and the Trump administration broadly casts suspicion over the efficacy of government employees.

Nevertheless, the report is not related to the White House’s priorities and was begun under the Biden administration, a spokeswoman with the EPA’s Office of Inspector General said.
