Republican-led states, legal organizations, and energy industry groups threw their support behind a petition that urges the US Supreme Court to review a recent Hawaii climate victory.

Groups submitted a flurry of arguments in support of oil companies in multiple friend-of-the-court briefs filed on Monday. They argue that a Honolulu climate case win at the Hawaii Supreme Court raises national security and emissions issues that are strictly the purview of federal bodies.
