Eight U.S. Attorneys Confirmed After Sen. Cotton Withdraws Hold

The Senate confirmed eight U.S. attorneys, including new chief prosecutors based in Atlanta and Cleveland, after a Republican lawmaker removed a months-long blockade preventing their quick approval.

Sen. Tom Cotton (R-Ark.) agreed Wednesday to allow a packaged vote on U.S. attorneys, a position that traditionally gains bipartisan approval but had been subject to delays over Cotton’s unrelated objections to the Justice Department’s handling of Black Lives Matter litigation.
