EEOC Defends Activision Action in California Turf War (1)

The US Equal Employment Opportunity Commission told a federal appeals court it should reject California assertions the federal agency strayed into state territory in a turf battle involving Activision Blizzard Inc.

Activision Blizzard earlier this year settled for $18 million EEOC claims of sexual harassment, retaliation, and pregnancy discrimination. The California Civil Rights Department is attempting to intervene in—and scuttle—that accord, in essence accusing EEOC of poaching state law claims in the consent decree.
