June 27, 2022, 4:20 PM UTC

The Equal Employment Opportunity Commission has implemented a nonbinary “X” gender marker to the voluntary demographic questions of the intake process for filing a discrimination charge in the online public portal, according to the agency Monday.

The Online Spanish Initial Consultation Form and Pre-Charge Inquiry Form sometimes used instead of the portal have also been updated, according to the EEOC.

The agency said the prefix “Mx.” is also now included in the list of options on the discrimination charge form.
