The federal agency leading the Biden administration’s fight to enforce child labor laws is hiring additional leadership staff in its local offices, an expansion of management at a moment when growing workloads and attrition plague the US Department of Labor sub-agency.

The Wage and Hour Division, which is tasked with enforcing more than a dozen laws on child labor, minimum wage, overtime, and paid leave, recently informed staff that it would be bringing on an additional deputy regional administrator at each of its five regional offices.
