DOJ Seeks to Drop FIFA Corruption Case Against Ex-Fox Executive

The Justice Department asked a federal judge to dismiss money laundering and wire fraud charges against a former Fox executive who’d been convicted as part of a scheme to bribe international soccer officials for World Cup broadcasting rights.

Eastern District of New York US Attorney Joseph Nocella requested the dismissal with prejudice Tuesday “in the interests of justice” as defendants Hernan Lopez and sports marketing group Full Play had appealed their case to the US Supreme Court in September.
