DOJ Recovered Over $2.9 Billion in 2024 False Claims Act Suits

The Justice Department recovered almost $3 billion under the False Claims Act last year, and a record 979 whistleblower suits were filed—a milestone that’s overshadowed by legal threats to the FCA whistleblower provisions.

The DOJ’s reliance on FCA whistleblowers is on shaky ground after a federal district court in Florida ruled in September that the whistleblower provisions are unconstitutional.

The FCA and its whistleblower provisions “‘remain a critical tool in protecting the public fisc and ensuring that taxpayer funds serve the purpose for which they were intended,’"Principal Deputy Associate Attorney General Benjamin C. Mizer said in a Wednesday announcement. ...
