DOJ Deploys Veteran Fixer to Unwind Alaska Judge’s Conflicts (1)

A Justice Department attorney with nearly 40 years’ experience is getting dispatched to the Alaska US attorney’s office to support an escalating ethics review tied to a judge’s sexual misconduct.

Assistant US attorney Steven Clymer, who’s previously been deployed to help troubled DOJ units, gained notice by successfully prosecuting two of the Los Angeles police officers who brutally beat Rodney King in 1991.

In Anchorage, Clymer will support the Alaska office’s review of cases in which former US District Court Judge Joshua Kindred possibly needed to recuse because of inappropriate ties to prosecutors, a DOJ spokeswoman for Alaska confirmed ...
