DOJ ‘Peacemaker’ Office Dismantling Spurs Eleventh-Hour Suit (1)

Community organizations have lodged an eleventh-hour effort to save the Justice Department’s beleaguered “peacemakers” agency, days before it’s set to dissolve as part of the Trump administration’s effort to restructure the department.

The groups, which include organizations focused on addressing racial bias in policing and reproductive rights, asked a Boston federal court on Friday to halt the upcoming termination of the Community Relations Service, a civil rights-era agency dedicated to conflict resolution in communities.
