Dish Network Isn’t Liable Under FCRA For Thwarting Attempted Identity Theft

Dish Network did not violate the Fair Credit Reporting Act by running a consumer report to verify the identity of a potential customer that turned out to be a possible identity thief, according to a May 13 decision by the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit (Bickley v. Dish Network, LLC, 6th Cir., 13-5956, 5/13/14).
