Disabled Tester’s Suit Against Hotel She Won’t Visit May Proceed

A disabled woman who tests websites for compliance with the Americans with Disabilites Act may proceed with her suit against a Florida hotel despite having no intention of ever visiting it, the Eleventh Circuit said.

Deborah Laufer is a tester and serial litigant. She claimed that the website for the America’s Best Value Inn in Marianna, Fla., didn’t comply with federal regulations under the ADA. Laufer also said that as a disabled person she felt humiliated and frustrated when she visited the website.
