DHS Appeals Order to Process Migrants’ Asylum, Visa Requests (1)

The Trump administration is appealing a federal judge’s order directing it to lift a processing freeze on asylum claims, visas, and other benefits sought by immigrants admitted to the US under humanitarian parole programs.

It will also appeal a separate order certifying class status in litigation over the dismantling of those programs, according to a court filing by the Department of Homeland Security.

It signaled those plans a day before the US Court of Appeals for the First Circuit is scheduled to hear arguments over the termination of deportation protections and work permits for immigrant parolees from Cuba, Haiti, Nicaragua, ...
