A 2018 article calling the relocation of Rep. Devin Nunes’ family dairy farm a “politically explosive secret” wasn’t defamatory, and no reasonable reader would have interpreted the family was involved in criminal conduct, a federal court said Wednesday.
The California Republican sued journalist Ryan Lizza for defamation following the publication of an article about the Nunes family’s dairy farm and the use of undocumented labor in a small Iowa town.
Nunes said the story implied his family covered up the dairy farm’s move from California to Iowa, and used undocumented labor at its new location.
