Dems Want Kavanaugh Hearing Delay Over Cohen, Manafort Crimes (1)

U.S. Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh’s confirmation hearings should be postponed due to crimes committed by President Donald Trump’s former associates, Democrats said Aug. 22.

The White House called the move “desperate,” and Republicans who control the Senate said they won’t postpone the Senate Judiciary Committee proceedings set to start Sept. 4.

Guilty pleas entered by former Trump attorney Michael Cohen and the conviction of the president’s former campaign chairman, Paul Manafort, both on Aug. 21, took center stage at an unrelated Judiciary Committee hearing, in Tweets and in comments on the Senate floor.
