First Judge Confirmed in Post-Election Session, More Planned

Senate Democrats began their push to cap Joe Biden’s judicial legacy with more than two dozen nominees in the pipeline and little time to act.

Facing the loss of the White House and party control of the Senate in January, Democrats began the post-election lame duck session on Tuesday by confirming April Perry, 51-44, to the Chicago-based Northern District of Illinois trial court.

Perry replaces Nancy Maldonado, another Biden nominee who in July became the first Hispanic member of the US Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit.
