On this edition of SCOTUS Deep Dive, we’ll take a look at the partisan gerrymandering challenges out of North Carolina and Maryland that the court will hear in back-to-back arguments March 26.
Partisan gerrymandering has confounded the Supreme Court for decades, as the justices have struggled to find a neutral, manageable way to root out extreme partisanship.
The justices considered the question just last term in a case out of Wisconsin and the same case from Maryland. But they punted those on procedural grounds.
The issue, however, has once again come back to the court.
