D.C. Sniper to Be Resentenced

Lee Boyd Malvo, one of the two “D.C. Snipers” that terrorized the region in 2002, killing 12 people and wounding 6 more, will be resentenced, a federal appeals court held June 21.

The new constitutional rule that a juvenile offender convicted of homicide cannot receive a mandatory sentence of life without parole applies retroactively to this case, Judge Paul V. Niemeyer wrote for the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit.
