Two documentary film making organizations lacked standing to challenge a blanket State Department rule requiring visa applicants to disclose their social media history on their applications, the D.C. Circuit said Friday.
Doc Society and International Documentary Association said that the rule violated the First Amendment and the Administrative Procedures Act. But even if they identified cognizable injuries caused by the rule, they didn’t allege that a favorable outcome in this suit would redress those injuries, Judge J. Michelle Childs said for the US Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit.
