DC Circuit Judge David Tatel Officially Takes Senior Status

David Tatel has stepped down from his role as an active judge on the US Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit, leaving two open seats for President Joe Biden to fill on the powerful court.

Tatel originally told the White House in February 2021 he would take senior status, a form of semi-retirement, upon the appointment of his successor. But in a December letter, Tatel set a time frame of May 16 or sooner. The Bill Clinton appointee left Monday after more than 27 years on the court.
