Federal product liability suits over Covidien LP hernia mesh products won’t be combined in a single proceeding, the U.S. Judicial Panel on Multidistrict Litigation said Friday.
“We are not persuaded under the present circumstances that the benefits of centralization outweigh the disruption to the pending actions, some of which have been pending in federal court for two or three years,” it said.
Covidien and related companies asked the panel in June to combine the suits and send them to the Southern District of New York.
