Covid Hits Lawyers for Lone Woman on Federal Death Row

Two Tennessee lawyers representing the only woman on federal death row are “virtually bed-ridden” with Covid-19 after visiting their client in Texas ahead of her upcoming execution, according to a lawsuit filed Thursday.

Seeking an injunction ahead of Lisa Montgomery’s scheduled Dec. 8 execution, it serves to highlight the dangers not only to inmates, correctional staff, and surrounding communities of spreading the virus during the pandemic, but to lawyers, too.
