Covid-19 No Excuse for Late Notice of N.J. Malpractice Claim

A medical malpractice plaintiff lost his suit against a public health-care facility because Covid-19 related limitations didn’t justify extending the time limit for filing a notice of claim against the public entity, a New Jersey appeals court said Friday.

A New Jersey Supreme Court order that relaxed court rules during the pandemic didn’t authorize judges to extend the statutory deadline found in the state’s tort claims law, the New Jersey Superior Court, Appellate Division also said.
