Court Won’t Let Lawyer Withdraw From Case Even After Being Fired

A federal district judge refused to allow counsel for a defendant to withdraw even after being fired.

There was reason to believe the defendant was attempting “to delay or manipulate the proceedings and avoid the effects” of court orders in the breach-of-contract action, Judge Ronnie L. White of the Eastern District of Missouri said Dec. 31.

The attorney, the second from the same firm to represent the defendant in the case after his first withdrew, filed a motion Dec. 27 to withdraw, citing “professional considerations,” the court said.
