Court Calls Out Non-Lawyer For Filing Mandamus Petition in Texas

A man who filed a petition for writ of mandamus with a Texas appeals court on behalf of two clients will have to answer to the state’s unauthorized practice of law committee because he’s not a lawyer.

“Based on the face of the petition, it appears that (John Rod) Thomas is not a member of the state bar or a licensed attorney,” the Court of Appeals for the Fifth District of Texas at Dallas said on Monday.
