Conservative Judge O’Connor Is New Chief in North Texas

US District Judge Reed O’Connor, a conservative known for overseeing national policy cases, is now the chief judge for the Northern District of Texas, the court announced.

The George W. Bush appointee to the trial court became chief judge on Monday. He fills the role after US District Judge David Godbey served as chief for nearly three years.

Godbey and O’Connor didn’t immediately return requests for comment.

O’Connor’s major cases also include criminal charges against Boeing Co. over 737 Max crashes. The Justice Department in May said it had reached a non-prosecution agreement with Boeing, and O’Connor will weigh whether ...
