City of Rochester Sued by Daniel Prude’s Sister Over His Death

Daniel Prude’s sister, Tameshay Prude, sued the City of Rochester and multiple members of its police force on Tuesday in Rochester federal court for violating Prude’s constitutional rights based on his death following a March arrest.

“Mr. Prude’s death was caused by the policy, practice and customs of the City and RPD that condones and encourages officers to use excessive force as a matter of course, and to lie in official police paperwork and sworn testimony to justify their unlawful actions,” the complaint filed in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of New York says.
