GOP’s Cawthorn Freed to Run as Insurrection Objection Fails (2)

The novel challenge seeking to block Rep. Madison Cawthorn (R-N.C.) from running for re-election is over at least for now because of redistricting, the state election board ruled, leaving unanswered the thorny constitutional question of whether he is an insurrectionist who should be disqualified from office.

The North Carolina State Board of Elections informed lawyers for the voters who challenged his candidacy under the 14th Amendment that they no longer have legal standing to continue.
