The United States Law Week

‘Cases and Controversies’ PODCAST: Immigration, Trump Judges

June 26, 2020, 9:50 PM

U.S. Supreme Court justices issued just two opinions this week, heading into the final week of June—when they usually wrap up—with 13 argued cases still undecided.

“Cases and Controversies” hosts Kimberly Robinson and Jordan Rubin break down those two divided decisions, on SEC enforcement and the rights of immigrants facing expedited removal.

They also talk about what the rest of the term looks like, including whether the Roberts Court will break new ground by not issuing its final decisions until July.

Bloomberg Law’s judiciary reporter Madison Alder joins the podcast as a special guest to break down the latest in the lower courts, including President Trump appointing his 200th federal judge.

The hosts also note some high-profile briefs that came in this week in the latest litigation over the fate of Obamacare, which will be at the high court yet again next term as the 2020 election nears.
