Cardiology Practice Denied Bid for US Memoranda in Fraud Suit

A North Carolina-based cardiology practice isn’t entitled to see memoranda the US government and the state filed in a False Claims Act suit accusing the practice of billing Medicare, Medicaid, and TRICARE for medically unnecessary procedures.

The memoranda—which sought more time to decide whether to intervene in the suit filed by a whistleblower—must remain under seal, Magistrate Judge Robert T. Numbers II, of the US District Court for the Eastern District of North Carolina said in a Thursday order.
