Capitol Rioter’s Sentencing Challenge Is Rejected by DC Circuit

A man who pleaded guilty to multiple offenses after storming the US Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021 lost on Friday an appeal challenging part of his 14-month prison sentence.

Troy Sargent had asked the US Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit to undo his sentence for assaulting, resisting, or impeding law enforcement officers under 18 USC § 111(a)(1), claiming the district court misapplied the US Sentencing Guidelines.
