The US Supreme Court in April will hear an appeal from a Jan. 6 Capitol riot defendant who’s fighting charges similar to those that have been brought against former President Donald Trump.
Arguments in the case are set for April 16, according to a calendar for the court’s April sitting released on Friday. Joseph Fischer’s appeal is being closely watched for its potential to complicate the government’s efforts to criminally prosecute Trump for trying to overturn the 2020 presidential election he lost.
