Female athletes and two of their parents filed a lawsuit in federal court claiming that a California school district violated their civil rights by allowing a trans student to play women’s sports.
The complaint, filed Tuesday in the US District Court for the Central District of California, said that the Jurupa Unified School District, the California Interscholastic Federation, and the California Department of Education violated Title IX of the 1972 Education Amendments, the equal protection clause, and the First Amendment by allowing a transgender female athlete to play on high school female sports teams.
