California Truck Drivers Get Misclassification Suit Revived

Truck drivers who transported shipping containers for East Coast Transport Inc. won another shot at showing they were misclassified as independent contractors Friday when a California appellate court found the question of their employee status should be evaluated under a different test.

The drivers in 2017 sued the company, which arranges for the pickup and delivery of goods from Los Angeles to nearby locations, alleging they were actually employees, and had been denied a variety of statutory protections.
