California Kids Gun Ad Law Likely Merits Full Block, Judge Says

A federal appeals court judge questioned whether a lower court went far enough in blocking part of a California law that prohibits the gun industry from advertising to children, suggesting that the entire statute likely should have been halted.

Judge N. Randy Smith of the US Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit said the constitutional challenge to the law, known as AB 2571, has focused on the statute as a whole, and the California attorney general had never previously argued different sections of the law—including a data sharing restriction—should be severed.
