California High Court Rejects Broader Police Misconduct Immunity

A California law that shields public employees from liability for injuries from malicious prosecution doesn’t extend to police misconduct during an investigation, the state’s high court ruled Thursday.

The decision reaffirms a 1974 California Supreme Court ruling that limited the reach of the immunity provision to actions for malicious prosecution.
