California Could Boost Client Trust Oversight, Requirements

Attorneys would be required to register client trust accounts and potentially undergo certified compliance reviews under recommendations being considered by the California Bar.

The bar’s Board of Trustees during meetings on Thursday and Friday is scheduled to discuss and back a report and recommendation to establish a new program to protect client trust accounts. The next step is for the board to draft any rule proposals and put them out for public comment.
