California Bar Disciplinary Lawyer Data Hack Under Investigation

The State Bar of California is “still investigating” a breach of confidential information related to tens of thousands of nonpublic attorney disciplinary cases it said Monday, and the inquiry into the hack, discovered late last week, is “fluid.”

The bar announced Feb. 26 that it was taking “urgent action” to address a breach affecting attorney discipline case data. The announcement said the breach was discovered Feb. 24, and that about 260,000 nonpublic California State Bar case records may have been posted on a website in violation of California Business and Professions Code 6086.1(b).
