California Ban on Semiautomatic Rifle Sales to Youths Blocked

California’s gun regulation scheme took hit from the Ninth Circuit Wednesday when it ruled that the state’s near total ban on the sale of semiautomatic rifles to young adults likely violates the Second Amendment.

The regulations ban the sale of semiautomatic guns to young adults between 18 and 21 years old unless they’re in the police or military. They also require young adults to have a hunting license in order to buy a long gun, which is gun with a long barrel.

The US District Court for the Southern District of California refused to preliminarily enjoin the regulations.
