Breyer to Teach at Harvard Law After Supreme Court Retirement

July 15, 2022, 2:06 PM UTC

Justice Stephen Breyer will return to Harvard Law School to teach after retiring from the US Supreme Court after 28 years last month.

Breyer, 83, will teach administrative law and continue to write books, according to a Friday press release.

Breyer is a graduate of Harvard Law School and taught there before taking the bench. He retired from the Supreme Court in June, making it possible for his former law clerk Ketanji Brown Jackson to be confirmed to take his place.

“Among other things,” Breyer said in the release, “I will likely try to explain why I believe it important that the next generations of those associated with the law engage in work, and take approaches to law, that help the great American constitutional experiment work effectively for the American people.”
