The Boston Election Department is illegally denying public access to voting records, according to a federal lawsuit filed by the nonprofit Public Interest Legal Foundation.
City election officials ignored the Foundation’s request for copies of “all data fields” in Boston’s voter registry, even though public access is guaranteed by the National Voter Registration Act of 1993, according to a complaint filed Thursday in the US District Court for the District of Massachusetts.
