BlackBerry Wins Sanctions Bid Against Patent Plaintiff, Lawyers

BlackBerry Corp. convinced a Texas federal judge to award it attorney’s fees after the company discovered Silent Communications LLC didn’t have the right as a non-patent owner to sue it for infringement over communications device technology.

Judge Alan Albright is planning to grant BlackBerry’s motion for attorney fees, according to a minute entry filed Tuesday detailing a Zoom hearing in the US District Court for the Western District of Texas. A written order will be issued later.
