Bipartisan Spy Law Overhaul Unveiled by Senate Lawmakers (1)

A new warrant requirement would be imposed on a controversial spy authority under a bipartisan bill introduced Thursday in the Senate.

The Security and Freedom Enhancement Act, which is cosponsored by Judiciary Chair Dick Durbin (D-Ill.) and Sen. Mike Lee (R-Utah), would create a point of access warrant requirement for Section 702 queries conducted by law enforcement agencies on US persons and persons inside the US, according to a bill summary obtained by Bloomberg Government.
