The former acting leader of President Joe Biden‘s White House regulations office served in the job unlawfully for more than five months, a federal watchdog found, marking the first official violation under the Biden administration of the law that governs interim officials.

Sharon Block, who left her job leading the Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs (OIRA) earlier this year, didn’t meet the government service requirements to be that office’s acting administrator under the Federal Vacancies Reform Act, the Government Accountability Office said Monday.
