Sen. Cindy Hyde-Smith (R-Miss.) says she won’t support the nomination of Scott Colom to be a federal trial court judge in the state.
“I will not return the blue slip on the nomination of Scott Colom to serve as a U.S. District Court judge for the Northern District of Mississippi,” Hyde-Smith said in a statement, referring to the process by which home-state senators sign off on trial court nominees.
Biden announced the nomination of Colom, a Mississippi district attorney and former municipal judge, in October 2022.
