Barrett Describes ‘Difficult’ Transition to Increased Security

Justice Amy Coney Barrett said adjusting to having a security detail has been “one of the most difficult” parts of joining the US Supreme Court, including some incidents involving her children.

Barrett, speaking Friday at the Tenth Circuit’s judicial conference in Colorado Springs, said that “there have been parenting experiences I wasn’t quite prepared for” after being assigned a detail. She said that she was once sent home from work wearing a bulletproof vest, and that her son followed her into her bedroom and saw it.
