A copyright infringement complaint against Mattel Inc. related to the Barbie doll was dismissed by the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Oklahoma June 21 (Harris v. Mattel Inc., E.D. Okla., 6:12-cv-00404-JHP, 6/21/13).
The court found no substantial similarity between Barbie DVD cover art and the cover art of the book Princess Charm School, by Lisa Delmedico Harris of Porum, Okla.
The book, targeted to young girls regarding etiquette, manners, grooming, behavior, and poise, was published in 2009. Harris registered the domain name www.princesscharmschool.com that year and registered a copyright (Reg. No. VA 1-X 19-305) ...
