Banco Bilbao Vizcaya Argentaria S.A. doesn’t have to provide information about Cuban assets sought by a man whose father was allegedly killed by the Cuban government, a federal appeals court ruled Aug. 14 (Vera v. The Republic of Cuba, 2017 BL 282990, 2d Cir., No. 16-1227, 8/14/17).
Aldo Vera Jr. served the bank with a subpoena as part of an attempt to enforce a district court’s default judgment against Cuba, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit said.
